Micah's First Days (Day 1)

I journaled everything while we were in Omaha, because I was afraid I would forget what happened when if I didn't. So, I am going by my pictures and journaling to tell the story of Micah's first days.
Micah Carter was born at 12:33 CT on 9-9-10 after an ambulance ride from McCook to Omaha, and a little help with induction. I was told two or three times that it may turn into a c-section, but was able to avoid that. Yay! He was 5 weeks early, but weighed 5 lbs 15 oz, and had a healthy set of lungs! They let me hold him for a moment, and then he headed to the NICU so that they could take care of him.

When I was able to go see him later that day, it was a shock to see him hooked up to all kinds of things and lots of people watching him. He was diagnosed with SVT (Supraventricular Tachycardia) and his heart rate was 200 bpm or more and would not go down. They put him on some medicine to try to bring the heart rate down.

We were not able to hold him that first day, but they did let us give him a sponge bath.
