South Dakota-Rapid City

We ended our trip in Rapid City. We did some shopping and went to Storybook Island. The kids loved playing, and it was good to get out and walk.

The kids sat on the rides at the mall. They were having fun.

We went to Storybook Island the first day, and it came up and stormed, so we had to leave shortly after we got there. Collin was very interested in everything inside the train.

These were taken the next morning. We got there as soon as they opened so that we could get on the road when we were done.

Once again, Micah was napping. They have a really nice park right outside Storybook Island.

Notice the ducks sitting at the bottom? I thought it was part of the statue, but they were actually real!

South Dakota- Mt. Rushmore & Custer

After Evans Plunge we headed up to see Mount Rushmore. We saw buffalo along the road.

We took the trail around to see it closer and get some exercise. What we didn't realize was how many steps there would be. Mike and I definitely got our exercise, as he ended up carrying the stroller, and I ended up carrying Micah!

I was able to get some neat shots along the trail.

Someone offered to take our picture, but Micah was napping in the stroller, so he missed out.

We took a scenic drive back to Custer to our motel.

The kids thought the tunnels were fun.

South Dakota- Evans Plunge

The next morning we went to Evans Plunge. Collin liked going down this little frog slide.

Kendra liked this big winding slide. (So did I!)

Collin just enjoyed hanging out in the shallow water.

Then we discovered there was a pool and slide outside. Lots of fun!

Micah also swam, and he loved it. I didn't get any pictures of that because I was in the pool with him. It was nice warm water, and it made him sleepy!

It was definitely a highlight of our trip. We had a great time there!

South Dakota- Mammoth Site

The first day of our vacation we stayed in Hot Springs. The kids thought it would be fun to see bones, so we went to the Mammoth Site. It was very interesting, and we were the only ones on the tour so we had as much time as we wanted to ask questions and look around.

While we waited for our tour, they had a place for kids to "dig" for bones. They also had a place to color over the top of a mammoth with paper and crayons. The kids had fun with that.

This was in the museum at the end. The kids thought this was pretty cool, although Collin didn't stay in it long...he was afraid the bones would fall in on him!

Micah- Crawling

Micah started crawling last month. This video was done on June 17th. He is everywhere now, and also pulling himself up to things.
